2016 Ford Escape vs 2015 Chevrolet Equinox

The Equinox offers a 3.6L V6 engine and while it claims to be "the most powerful in its class", the 2016 Ford Escape's available 2.0L EcoBoost® offers similar power with 270 lb-ft of torque and better EPA-estimated fuel economy at 22 city/30 hwy.

Cargo Space

The numbers don't lie. The Equinox advertises a 60/40 folding rear seat that creates 63.7 cu. ft. of maximum cargo space. The 2016 Ford Escape offers 67.8 cu. ft. of maximum cargo space with no tricks needed. That's 4.1 cu. ft. more than the Equinox.

The Equinox and the 2016 Ford Escape can both tow a maximum of 3,500 lbs, but the Escape can do it with more fuel efficiency thanks to its available 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 and Class II Trailer Tow Package. With the Escape you also get Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist.
